About Us

For the Pitmans, cold storage runs in the family. For over 50 years, Pitman Enterprises founder, Roy Pitman has worked in the cold storage space. After starting his career in the cold storage industry in Bend, OR in the 1970’s, Roy founded his first venture, CoolTec, an Inuslated Metal Panel manufacturing company in 1982. For 17 years, Roy ran CoolTec, in his later years adding help from his two teenage sons, Adam and Shane.

In 1998, CoolTec was acquired by industry-leading panel manufacturing company, Kaiser Industries. Upon his successful exit of this venture, Roy approached his now-adult sons about starting a company to address a hole he’d seen in the market, IMP construction and installation. From that meeting, Pitman Enterprises was born.

Over the subsequent 25 years Pitman Enterprises has grown significantly as an organization and now provides thermal, controlled atmosphere, and ripening construction services across North America. Still a family business at heart, Roy, Adam and Shane lead a world-class team of construction professionals working across the United States within our Pitman Enterprises and Advanced Ripening Technologies brands.

Shane Pitman - CEO

Shane’s life in the “cooler biz” started just about as soon as he could walk. Growing up Shane loved helping out at his dad’s factory and took odd jobs for Roy throughout high school. Shane came to work with his dad full time right out of school, as a co-founder with Roy and Adam. Shane spent his early Pitman Enterprises days traveling across the US installing coolers and freezers for big box stores, restaurants, and numerous other customers, developing his expertise and further establishing the Pitman reputation for commitment to quality. As Pitman Enterprises grew (in both size and offerings) Shane saw another market opportunity in tropical fruit ripening rooms. In 2006, Shane founded the North American arm of Advanced Ripening Technologies, LLC. Often partnering for comprehensive solutions with the Pitman Enterprises team, today, Advanced Ripening is has built hundreds of fruit ripening rooms across the US. Shane is responsible for steering the company's overall strategic direction, growth, and success. Shane brings to his role a relentless passion for leveraging cutting-edge technologies to transform the industry and create lasting impact.

When Shane isn’t working he can almost always be found with his kids, hunting, fishing, skiing, or golfing. Shane and his wife, Ericka (also a Pitman Enterprises employee, like we said, it’s a family business!) live on a small farm near Mt. Rainier and split their time between farm life and the family cabin in Ennis, MT.

Roy Pitman - CFO

Anyone who has ever met Roy knows that he has the cooler business in his blood. With over 50 years of experience across multiple facets of the industry, you’d be hard-pressed to find someone who knows more about IMP construction than Roy. His expertise, coupled with his dedication to family are the foundation upon which Pitman Enterprises was built. When Roy sold CoolTec (his first IMP venture), he was looking for the next opportunity in the industry. Always thinking of family first, Roy approached Adam and Shane to pitch his idea that the industry needed more expertise and commitment to quality IMP construction. The boys didn’t need much time to think about it, and quickly, Pitman Enterprises was off and running. When Roy and his sons founded Pitman Enterprises, he already had a strong reputation across the industry for his vast knowledge, and unparalleled work ethic. That reputation enabled Pitman Enterprises to enter the thermal contracting industry as a formidable competitor and has driven our team for 25 years. Although he can still often be found helping out our teams in the field, today, Roy has responsibility for Pitman Enterprise’s financials, customer relations, and home office.

In addition to being a proud father, Roy is an incredibly proud grandfather to 7, and when he’s not on the job, loves to spend time with his grandkids. Like his sons, Roy also enjoys fishing and golfing. Roy and his wife, Carla live on the first fairway of a small course close to both Shane and Adam’s families.

Adam Pitman - COO

Adam also grew up in the “cooler biz” and rounds out the management trio at Pitman Enterprises with his decades of experience, unmatched dedication, and team leadership. Like Shane, Adam spent his early years working with Roy at the factory, learning the business at a young age. Directly out of school Adam spent a few years in the residential construction space, but didn’t hesitate to return to the family business when he got the call from Roy. Adam is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the day-to-day operations and processes of Pitman Enterprises and our teams in the field. Highly skilled at translating operational goals and high level engineered design(s) for practical application, Adam consistently leads our field teams to success across multiple projects spanning myriad industries. Adam’s strong commitment to customer satisfaction, paired with his passion for efficiency, productivity, and overall performance ensure that all jobs, large and small, are completed on time, on budget, and with the customer’s wishes at the forefront.

If Adam isn’t on the job site or meeting with a customer, he’s more than likely out on his fishing boat, or spending quality time with his adult children. Adam and his wife Jennifer live near the family and enjoy travel, the Seahawks, and their two great danes.
